Stone Temple Pilots, commonly abbreviated as STP, is an American rock band formed in San Diego, California, in 1989. Originally consisting of lead vocalist Scott Weiland, guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo, and drummer Eric Kretz, the band's lineup remained unchanged from its formation until the firing of Weiland in February 2013.

Stone Temple Pilots (often called STP) is an American rock band that played in the 1990s and early 2000s. They broke up in 2003 but reformed in 2008. The band has Scott Weiland , brothers Robert (bass guitar, vocals) and Dean DeLeo , and Eric Kretz (drums, percussion).

Stone Temple Pilots was formed in 1989 in San Diego, California, and quickly became one of the defining bands of the ’90s alternative rock scene. Initially called Mighty Joe Young, the band changed its name to Stone Temple Pilots in 1992, marking the start of an iconic career.
