Sep 3, 2024 · After the SARPE surgery, they closed in on an angle. My surgeon predicted it would take a long time to correct the torquing of those teeth and he was right; it took a little over 5 months. The "before" photos were taken shortly after I got my braces on May 21.

I talked to my OS about this last week, and he said that it could be the RPE appliance making my face appear swollen (I have a bulky plastic RPE appliance in my mouth now) and that I should take it off and see how my face adjust and then see if it doesnt adjust ...

Aug 14, 2005 · Before surgery, I had fully inteneded to do it myself..the orthos assured me it was possible with a couple of mirrors and lots of light.. but I definately couldn't have done it for the several days after surgery..I just wouldn't have been able to deal with it...so then I just got in the routine of having her do it which was less stressfullo for me.

Oct 22, 2008 · It takes a long time. I had my surgery in January, and though the sponginess is gone, it is still very weak. I think it took over 6 months or so for me to have a "normal" feeling there. I actually thought the feeling may not come back. It felt spongy and gross for a long time. I have a few areas in my gum line that don't have all the feeling back.

Nov 23, 2009 · SARPE seems to have different approaches, although they strive to achieve the same result. If you go through this thread you'll see several conversations about this. In most situations it is pretty much done exactly as a LeFort I without the downfracture. Meaning, incisions are made along and behind the upper jaw, and the mid-palate is split.
