Jan 5, 2005 · I got the Element because it is so functional and thoughtfully designed, and because it's a Honda, so I know what I'm in for on reliability. The xB will be reliable too, but it just seems so fragile to me. I also think that the proportions are not pleasing (what is up with that front bumper?) on the xB. I'd take my Element over a Scion any day.

Feb 9, 2020 · It is the “soul” survivor (lol) of the boxy car wars. Very reliable. Cheap (and available) parts and maintenance. Popular and roomy. Available in manual or even turbocharged (although manual turbo together doesn’t exist). Out of those two I'd beer toward the Element. Very cool utilitarian little SUVs.

Aug 31, 2008 · The xB has all of the features I liked about the Element, but none of the drawbacks. I had an AWD Element for New England winters and was a little concerned that the xB couldn't match that, but with FWD and traction control the xB has done just fine so far.

While most percieve it to be a boxy utilitarian vehicle (which, in truth, it is), others can look at it in a different light: as a quirky, fun box with lots of potential for modification. A 6-speed upgrade is a logical upgrade to the Element for several reasons: 1. Upgraded mileage.

Jan 5, 2005 · At press time, Honda is selling its Element at higher prices and in higher volumes than Scion is selling the xB. But Honda designed the Element from scratch with the American market in mind...

It might be thirsty and relatively low on power, but the tradeoff is that the powertrain is low-tech and incredibly reliable. No non-maintenance engine repairs, still on the original clutch at 130k.
