Between August 2019 and January 2020, I drilled twenty-two skeletal cores from massive Porites spp. coral colonies near the Thuwal region of the central Red Sea (Fig. 1). The primary study location was a nearshore reef called Abu Shosha (11 cores), but I also collected cores at reefs across the shelf (1-2 cores per reef, 11 total cores).
