The Skaven, (pronounced "SKAY-ven") sometimes known as the ratmen, the Ratkin, the " Children of the Horned Rat," [1a] or the " Underfolk," [7a] are a malevolent and diabolical race of large, intelligent, humanoid rats that inhabit a massive, inter-continental, subterranean empire known in their tongue simply as the " Under-Empire."

A Skaven Warlord is one of the ruthless and tyrannical rulers of the Skaven clans that define the society of the Under-Empire. They are large and powerfully built warriors that command the utmost respect through their sheer physical prowess, ruthless tyranny, and inhumane cruelty. [1a]

Clanrats are the unwashed masses of the various Skaven Clans. They fight with whatever rusted spears and blades they can scrounge up, as well as their own claws and teeth.

The Stormvermin are the dark brown [1a] or black-furred elite of Skaven military might. During the earlier days of the Skavendom, they were referred to as Stormwalkers.
