Spider-Woman finds Russell chained to the wall where he awaits his transformation to the Werewolf. She breaks his shackles and he changes and attacks her, choking her till she passes out.

In #12, Jack Russell (Werewolf by Night) falls under the spell of an evil magician, and winds up battling Spidey on his behalf. #37 puts the Man-Wolf against Spidey. #93 has Werewolf by Night, now in control of himself and his powers, teaming up with Spidey to fight Tatterdemalion.

Jack Russell was dormant for most of the 1980s. The character's appearance was radically revamped in Moon Knight #29 (March 1983). He guest-starred in various issues of Spider-Woman, West Coast Avengers, and Doctor Strange: Sorcerer Supreme.

Mar 15, 2024 · Roy Thomas’s idea for Werewolf by Night was a cross between Spider-Man and the 1957 B-Movie “I Was a Teenage Werewolf.” Plus, he envisioned the story narrated by the hero himself. Thomas’s original idea for the title was “I, Werewolf,” but Stan Lee didn’t like it and suggested calling it “Werewolf by Night.”
