Feb 23, 2018 · Tabernacle currently reads - All creatures have "At the beginning of your upkeep, destroy this creature unless you pay 1." So, based on that i also believe you would have to pay - i am looking forward to hearing from someone more confident though.

Jan 26, 2022 · The Tabernacle is one of those cards where when you have it some entire match’s just break wide in lands favor. Looking at the elves match-up, if you can get the tabernacle down and wasteland a cradle before they can play it some hands out of elves just lose. And without the tabernacle that just wouldn’t be the case.

Feb 25, 2022 · Lands is the best deck for Tabernacle. It is also, by a country mile, the best deck that uses a Tabernacle. And you often win because your opponent no longer wants to play anymore since you’ve decimated their board and they can no longer actually do anything. Which is POX’s MO. Play Lands.

I would consider Tabernacle to be very oppressive at 7 power, probably also at 8, but by the same token I'd consider Gaea's Cradle to be a little much at the same table. Still, between the two Tabernacle actually kills board presence while the Cradle just advances your own board.

I think you’ll win a lot of games without needing the tabernacle, but there will be a non zero amount of games where you wish you had it.
