The Semai and Temiar people call themselves Sɛnˀơơy, which means, simply, ‘people’. In Semai, the term is enough to mean ‘indigenous people’, but the Temiars say, Sɛnˀơơy sɛŋrơx, to imply the same, or ‘forest people’.
