Wanting a simple solution to have the keyboard backlight automatically turn on when the laptop comes out of sleep, the laptop is powered on/restarted, etc and then turn off when it is sleeping. Laptop Specs:-Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen 1 running Windows 11 Pro It is up-to-date and has Lenovo Commerical Vantage. What I have tried:

Jul 29, 2022 · I've recently bought a T14 Gen 2 and installed Ubuntu on it but unfortunately I was unable to turn on the keyboard backlight if it even exists. I've tried 'xset led on' but it doesn't do anything. Lenovo website says I should try fn+space but that also doesn't work. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Sep 24, 2018 · Of course there are obvious advantages to having automatic keyboard backlight turn on when the keyboard is used in the dark (with a setting to disable it for those that absolutely want to do it manually). A good thing with switching brands from time to time is that you realize that the other brands have some good ideas also (and some bad).

Dec 24, 2021 · The problem I'm having is that the keyboard backlight shuts off after ~15 seconds of inactivity. It turns back on when the keyboard is pressed or the touchpad touched. I find the shutoff annoying and uncomfortable but I cannot find any setting to control it. Nothing in the Windows 10 OS, nothing in the BIOS and nothing in the Lenovo utilities.

Dec 18, 2021 · I recently purchased a Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 3 laptop with AMD Ryzen 3 5300U which comes with non-backlit keyboard and only models with AMD Ryzen 5 and above come with backlit keyboards. But on their website I saw that you can customize one for your self and add a backlit keyboard instead of the standard non-backlit keyboard.

We can only guess your cousin didn't choose the backlit keyboard upgrade at time of purchasing the X260. If you need one, and if you're pretty savvy with some basic screwdrivers, you could buy the backlit keyboard and install it yourself.
