Tuy became an independent town only on August 12, 1866 comprising thirteen (13) villages or barrios namely: Akle, Bayudbud, Dao, Guinhawa, Lumbangan, Luntal, Malibu, Mataywanac, Obispo, Palincaro, Sabang and Talon.

Twelve (12) years after 14,012 people resided in Tuy. In 1970, based on NSO there is an increase of 5,550 persons, making a total population of 19,562 with an average growth rate of 3.96 %. After 5 years, in 1975, total population became 21,839 with an average growth rate of 2.33%.

Tuy is an agricultural municipality. As it is, we have to raise high value crops yield and construction of post harvest facility. Our programs in this sector are the agricultural assistance program, livestock health management, environmental protection program and agricultural development program.
