Oct 30, 2020 · The M8/M8A1 scabbard would serve in the U.S. military for many years carrying the M3 trench knife and the M4, M5/M5A1, M6, and M7 bayonets used with the M1 Carbine, M1 Garand, M14, and M16 respectively. Many U.S.-produced M8/M8A1 scabbards were sent around the world as part of military aid packages during the Cold War.

The 75 mm howitzer motor carriage M8 "Scott" was a self-propelled howitzer vehicle of the United States in use during World War II. It was developed on the chassis of the M5 Stuart tank and was equipped with a M116 howitzer in an M7 mount.

The M8 high-speed tractor was an artillery tractor used by the US Army and Marine Corps from 1950. The M8 is a full-track tractor based on the chassis of the M41 Walker Bulldog light tank. It was used to tow cargo trailers and artillery such as the Skysweeper 75 mm anti-aircraft gun and the M59 Long Tom gun.

Bayonet for use on the 5.56 mm. NATO caliber U.S. M16 assault rifle. Also used on U.S. Army combat shotguns, such as the Remington 870 and the Mossberg 500 and 590. Adopted in 1986 as the Multi Purpose Bayonet System, M9, it remains the current-issue U.S. Army bayonet.

Jan 8, 2012 · I'm looking for a Vietnam era M7 bayonet with an M8A1 scabbard, but is there a way to date them ??? I've looked here on the forum and on Ebay, but every one I see is undated. The only info I really see is these is the maker/manufacturer and perhaps a few stock numbers.

Sep 14, 2013 · The M8A1 was introduced in 1944 and replaced the M8. The difference was that the M8A1 had the hanger extended slightly and the double hook attachment added so the scabbard could be used on the standard cartridge and pistol belts.

Dec 31, 2015 · In searching for Makers and contracts for US military bayonets, I have found all of the makers (to my knowledge) except the maker of the US M8A1 scabbard marked WD. The photo above illustrates 4 that I currently have in my reference collection.
