USS FOX (DLG-33) is the third ship of the U.S. Na''''Y to be named after President Lincoln's Assistant Secretary of the Navy. She is the first of a new class of guided missile firgates to be commissioned in the Pacific.

The USS Fox (DLG-33) was a Belknap -class cruiser of the United States Navy, named after Gustavus V. Fox , President Abraham Lincoln 's Assistant Secretary of the Navy. The keel for DLG-33 was authenticated and laid in ceremonies at Todd Shipyards Corporation, San Pedro, California on 15 January 1963.

Bill then enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served as a Signalman from 1969-1972. He was a proud Veteran of the Vietnam War who often talked about his time overseas. Bill served on the USS Fox DLG 33 from 1970-1971 two WestPac cruises.
