The quality of the signal begins to drop off above 1920x1080 (1080p) which will cause a drop in image quality due to the analogue nature of the signal but with a good enough cable and transceiver on either end it can be used for resolutions up to and including 2048x1536.

Jan 5, 2016 · I just connected my GPU to the monitor via VGA cable. I used a DVI-to-VGA adapter on my GPU, since HDMI is the only connector my monitor and GPU have in common. The HDMI connector on my monitor doesn't work though, so i had to connect via VGA. I just powered it on, everything works, but my monitor doesn't allow me to change to 1080p.

Oct 8, 2017 · vga to HDMI needs an active adapter to convert analogue signals to digital, a normal cable with pin to pin won´t work. your ebay link can work the other way around, from HDMI as source (Laptop) to monitor (VGA). But that´s not really common and you would need a special Laptop HDMI port with VGA passthrough for that.

Jul 15, 2016 · When VGA is connected and I connect HDMI, display detects that it is conected but No Signal on HDMI, VGA Works. When I remove VGA situation is same on HDMI port. When I reset computer with both, VGA and HDMI, connected there is no image on both displays, but when I remove HDMI, VGA gets Signal.
