Feb 25, 2021 · The ThinkPad T42, T42 and T43 all were one of the last laptops that still had Windows 98 driver support. IBM at the time continued to put work into good quality software and drivers for business customers and they make great retro gaming laptops.

IBM's driver matrix includes ACPI support, but not for win98se on the R40. They do include APM support - which requires a "slipstream" re-install w/ a couple of INF files: creates the hibernate file on the C: partition (C:\save2dsk.bin). APM works OK with '98se. Standby and hibernate work.
