Aug 11, 2023 · The goal isn't to remove the eye, and the eye socket Volo tries to reach the parasite through is the one Wyll is already missing. He should be able to just remove his bloodstone eye. I can understand him not getting the Ersatz eye (because Volo has nothing to apologise for), and it would probably break a tonne of dialogue if he did.

Unlike other companions, Wyll cannot undergo Volo's procedure. In Early Access, the ersatz eye could be pickpocketed from Volo. In the full release of the game, the player must go through with his surgery in order to obtain the eye or kill him.

During Early Access, Wyll had a side-quest to take revenge on Torturer Spike, who had taken out his eye. This was removed in the full version of the game, where Wyll instead tells the story of how he lost his eye in a much more significant battle in the past.

Aug 13, 2023 · Wyll was rewritten entirely before release and now has nothing to do with the goblins. A lot of things were changed between EA and release without much notice (such as Gale's magical eating thing.)

Aug 25, 2023 · I don't remember finding any goblins with Wyll's eye in the full release. That part of his backstory was completely rewritten, and the new canonical reason is the fight with the Tiamat cultists.
