The Yoseikan is the official headquarters for the United States Chito-Ryu style of Karate, inside are offices, meeting rooms, a kitchen and a main and secondary training deck. The Yoseikan was a dream of William J. Dometrich since 1954, when he first went to Japan and studied Chito-Ryu Karate while stationed there with the U.S. Army.

In 1962, Lawrence C. Hawkins, Jr. began his training of Chito-ryu under Dometrich Sensei at the Yoseikan Hombu in Covington, KY. At a time of racial and social unrest, Dometrich Sensei wholly accepted Hawkins, an African-American, as his student just as O Sensei had accepted a Caucasian-American soldier to train in his dojo during post-WWII era ...

In the first months of 1972 a student of Doctor Chitose's, Yukinori Kugimiya, arrived at the Yoseikan. His parents arrived a short time later and made their home at the dojo. They currently live in the Los Angeles, California area, where they moved to be with their other son.

Yoseikan (養正館, Yōseikan) was the name given to Minoru Mochizuki 's dojo built in November 1931 in Shizuoka, Japan. The brother and friends of Master Minoru Mochizuki built this dojo for him while he was recovering from pleurisy and pulmonary tuberculosis.

He founded the Gyokushin Ryu school, which is based at the original and prestigious dojo once called Yoseikan, in Shizuoka.

The Hombu Dojo, or headquarter dojo of Yoseikan boasts a modern fitness centre designed by Mitchell Johnson, cricket legend and Brian Bratich.
