Training and Personnel Division coordinates recruiting, hiring, training, licensing and records of all police department personnel. In June 2009, the Amarillo Police Department qualified as a Texas Police Chief’s Association Foundation (TPCAF) Recognized Agency.

The Criminal Investigation Division is located on the 3rd floor of the Police Building. Detectives are responsible for the follow-up investigation of the majority of criminal cases occurring inside the City of Amarillo.
