Create sketch on a face, project geometry then create face based on that profile - repeat this many times, using the bend tool to connect edges where appropriate to complete the sheet metal design.

Apr 25, 2019 · So Maya LT does let me select the faces I want, if I zoom the camera far out to the point, I can't even it the mesh. When I zoom close to the mesh, maya face selection will start to jump to faces I do not want to select. This is frustrating, given I purchased maya for the sole purpose to use it on my laptop.

Sep 13, 2016 · This is in that gray area... Technically, this is not a bug, although it is certainly a big annoyance. Press/Pull only works on one pre-selection at a time. That is, if you pre-select many faces, Press/Pull will only start with one face. You can go back and add faces once you start to drag, and it works as you think it should.

Jun 28, 2015 · Press/Pull, when applied to a face, will try to move that face, then extend the faces adjacent to that face. That's why it continues the curvature as it moves. Extrude, though, will take a face (it must be planar is the only restriction), and create new geometry by moving that face and creating new side faces.

For your case, aligning using geometry should work, if there are no other conflicts with exsisting joint constrains. Use SHIFT key to disable snap selection and enable geometry selection. When the axis orientation is set to normals and faces are selected, i get no manipulator to move the faces (along their FACE normals) - and that exactly would be the feature that would be so useful!
