Any iPad from 2017 and later/newer can be upgraded to the latest version of iPadOS 17, except the 2017 5th gen iPad, which CAN ONLY be upgraded/updated to the latest iPadOS 16.7.

If your iPad 2 is still running fine with iOS 8 and your devices is still receiving app updates, forget about upgrading to iOS 9 and put off having to upgrade to iOS 9 for as long as possible. Oct 6, 2015 · I appreciate the comment, and understand that is supposed to be the case, but my iPad 2 software update only initially allowed for an iOS 8.4 upgrade directly through the "software update" button. Interestingly, before I attempted any updates, when I connected my iPad to iTunes, iTunes was offering an iOS 9.02 upgrade to this same iPad.

Mar 27, 2022 · If your iPad model has been stuck on iOS 9 or 10 for all of these past years, then it is possible you own an over 9-1/2 to 10-1/2-year old, 2011 iPad 2 or 2012 iPad 3, 4 or 1st gen iPad Mini. These iPad models cannot ever upgrade beyond iOS 9.3.5/9.3.6 or 10.3.3/10.3.4. An over 9-1/2 to nearly 11-year old iPad is far too old, now. Sorry.

Nov 17, 2014 · I am ***** hating iOS 8.1.1 on my iPad 2. iOS 8 was bad; made my iPad 2 almost unusable. When I initially downloaded 8.1.1, things did seem a lot better -- not as good as iOS 7 performance, but better than iOS 8. Then, yesterday my iPad performance bogged down again and it continues today. Just turned it off and on with no improvement.
