Tarun Gogoi (1 April 1936 – 23 November 2020) was an Indian politician and lawyer who served as the 13th Chief Minister of Assam from 2001 to 2016. He was the longest serving Chief Minister of Assam.

Gaurav Gogoi was born in Delhi on 4 September 1982. His father, Tarun Gogoi, served as Chief Minister of Assam from 2001 to 2016 as the longest-serving chief minister of the state. He studied at St. Columba's School, Delhi.

Tarun Gogoi (1936-2020) was an Indian politician, who was a veteran member of the Indian National Congress and a six-time Lok Sabha MP. He served as the chief minister of Assam for three consecutive terms, i.e., from 2001 to 2016. In 2021, he was posthumously honoured with the Padma Bhushan Award. He died on 2 November 2020.
