Jan 3, 2022 · I’m getting back into dragon age after a a long time, recently purchased the complete edition of Origins. I played Origins with a human noble background over 10 years ago, really enjoyed it. I was wondering with what background i should play now?

Jan 29, 2020 · IMO, it's probably either Dalish Elf or Human Mage, because they get the most callbacks in Dragon Age 2 compared to the other origins and tie more into the overarching story across the games thus far. The Witch Hunt DLC is especially a pretty big callback to the Dalish Elf origin, more so if you romanced Morrigan in the main campaign.

I also agree with you on mage, since it is the longest, you have the most freedom to run around the explore and has the most background information on the world out of any of the origins. I also like city elf, beacuse it's just has a really nice quest flow to it, and it is the only origin that differs based on the protagonist's sex.

Nov 17, 2022 · The Dwarven Origins have a big pay off when you go back to Orzammar, which is one of the longest and best written parts of the game. The Circle Mage origin has some light involvement and payoff when you get back to the circle. The City Elf is one of the most intense origins and has some payoff in the late game. Dalish Elf is tricky.

Starting out as a young woman unable to defend her home from the betrayal of their family friend and getting stronger until she can finally get justice for everyone killed.

My suggestion would be to choose what you like best since this is your story to tell. :D That's my viewpoint though since in my view, the reason why the developer decided to have character creation and a choice of background was for the players to decide the story in a certain extend. One of the main reason that Dragon Age pulled me in.
