The first racing car in the AMG customer sports programme is the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 (2010-2015) developed by HWA. The SLS represented a real milestone for AMG, as it was the first car to be developed entirely in-house.

HWA Team, also known as HWA RACELAB, is the auto racing team of HWA AG, a German company based in Affalterbach, that also develops and builds vehicles and components for Mercedes-AMG race cars. It is named after founder Hans-Werner Aufrecht.

Each car starts at 714,000 Euros ($762,730) with MotorTrend reporting 75 already reserved. The company starts with stripping down a Mercedes 190E to the chassis.
