Finally encountered a recalled bolt! | M14 Forum
Mar 7, 2025 · I was all set to bed this guy that got here in June of last year. The bolt looked odd and I did some digging. Found out it's a recalled bolt. SAI already issued me a return label. This bedding job will have to wait. Has the receiver ledge too that will be fixed when it gets back. Serial number on the receiver is 0258XX

Jun 29, 2020 · There have been a number of adaptations of the M14 bolt roller retaining ring installation tools over the years, mostly made by grinding down pliers of different shapes and drilling the proper hole for the bolt roller shaft. I have made a bunch of these and never quite found one that would work the way I wanted it to.

Dec 29, 2008 · You can pickup a M14 bolt "disassembly tool" at many ranges for free. AKA a .30-06 cartridge case. Simply chamber it as far as it will go and press the bolt forward onto it with the oprod until the ejector is fully compressed, push out the extractor, and ease the bolt back to capture the ejector and other small parts.

Mar 14, 2013 · I thought I'd give a basic how to remove damaged or old roller from the M14 bolt and re-instalation of new one.The main reasons for replacement are cracks , flat spots ,or when someone re-parks a bolt with roller left in place .This situation can trap aluminum oxide media under bolt resulting in pre-mature wear.
