The K Eighth Avenue Local, earlier the AA, was a rapid transit service of the New York City Subway. Its route bullet was colored blue on station signs, car rollsigns, and the official subway map since it ran on the IND Eighth Avenue Line.

Dec 12, 2023 · While many New Yorkers today have never heard of or barely remember the K train, that would be because, mid-December 1988, the K train was discontinued after a short, three-year career on the rails. The K line was so named when the MTA replaced old signage after discontinuing the use of double letters as names in 1985.

Rush hour peak direction trains operated express over the full Broadway (Brooklyn) Line, stopping only in Manhattan, at Myrtle Avenue (morning only) and Eastern Parkway, and along the Canarsie Line.

The letters H, K, and V can be seen on the rollsigns of some older model subway cars, with colors paired to the last primary trunk line they were assigned to. The letters P, T, U, X and Y could last be seen on R32 side rollsigns as a black letter inside a white circle.
