This race car built for Pikes Peak brought home our National Automotive Heritage Award at this year’s @ameliaconcoursofficial , and here’s why! The “Yellow Devil” or “Broadmoor Special” as it was known, was built to promote the Pikes Peak Hillclimb and the Broadmoor hotel, both founded by a man named Spencer Penrose, who is also responsible for building the Pikes Peak Highway on which the race is run! Penrose had his chauffeur and mechanic modify this 1918 Pierce Arrow touring car by shortening
