The elbow is a complex joint formed by the articulation of three bones – the humerus, radius and ulna. The elbow joint helps in bending or straightening of the arm to 180 degrees and assists in lifting or moving objects (and doing many asanas that ask the arm to bend or straighten, hold weight in poses/ bearing weight on arms, etc.) 💪 Generally thought to be a hinge joint with actions of flexion (bending) and extension (straightening). However the elbow, like the knee, has rotational capacity.

Elbow dislocation can result from a significant force or trauma applied to the elbow joint, causing the bones that make up the joint to be displaced. In cases where the dislocation is very severe, the ligaments that stabilize the joint end up damaged or we find that there are cases of recurrent dislocations.
